Train The Trainer: Course Content

The following is the course content for our Train the Trainer program.  Please note that this can be customized to the specific needs of your training organization.

Adult Learning

At the conclusion of this segment, participants will be able to:

bulletList Gardner’s Seven Intelligences.
bulletDetermine which are their own top three intelligences.
bulletDiscuss ways in which training can be targeted to reach all seven.
bulletList the importance of past experiences and appealing to self-interest in adult learners.

Needs Assessment

At the conclusion of this segment, participants will be able to:

bulletList three questions that will help describe a performance discrepancy.
bulletAsk questions to rate the importance of a given training request.
bulletDetermine whether a performance problem is caused by a skill deficiency.
bulletExplain the factors that can diminish or enhance the impact of training.

Developing Objectives

At the conclusion of this segment, participants will be able to:

bulletCorrectly state three reasons why Instructional Objectives are important.
bulletDevelop a course objective, determine the key learning points and stage a hierarchy for that objective.
bulletState the three reasons why Objectives, Key Learning Points and a Staged Hierarchy are critical to the defense of a course.

Evaluations

At the conclusion of this segment, participants will be able to:

bulletList Kirkpatrick’s four levels of evaluation and how to measure each.
bulletDiscuss the influences that can impact each level.

Engagement Techniques

At the conclusion of this segment, participants will be able to:

bulletState the relationship between tension and retention.
bulletIntegrate Icebreakers into their ongoing training efforts.
bulletFind applications for five icebreakers.
bulletApply checkpoints into their existing training efforts to measure retention or attitudes.
bulletIdentify at least five methods for building in checkpoints.

Facilitation Techniques

At the conclusion of this segment, participants will be able to:

bulletDifferentiate opportunities for Presentations Vs Facilitations.
bulletDetermine the optimal room set up for facilitation.
bulletApply a three-step process for debriefing to all role-play situations.
bulletApply any of twelve techniques to help work a group.

Stage Presence

At the conclusion of this segment, participants will be able to:

bulletImprove their ability to make eye contact.
bulletKeep their presentations interesting through effective movement.
bulletAvoid the top five distractions that draw learner's attention away.
bulletMake better use of their voice projection.

Media Tips & Techniques

At the conclusion of this segment, participants will be able to:

bulletList techniques to effectively use a Flip Chart, PC Projector, Overhead Projector and VCR to help facilitate a group.
bulletIdentify the eleven key elements that add up to effective PowerPoint presentations.
bulletDiscuss three techniques that all presenters should utilize when delivering a PowerPoint presentation.

Problem Participants

At the conclusion of this segment, participants will be able to:

bulletIdentify the three most common types of participants.
bulletIdentify when Cross Generational differences may be causing problems.
bulletList the most common problem participants and develop strategies for dealing with those participants.
